This section provides definitions for specific terms and concepts that are frequently used throughout this API documentation. Understanding these key terms will help you navigate and effectively use the APIs, ensuring clarity and preventing misunderstandings.

AMLDue to an EU regulation (AML5) coming into effect on the 10th of January 2020, Bitpanda users are required to verify their Bitpanda accounts. This is done by answering a set of AML (Anti Money Laundering) questions.
AppropriatenessIt refers to the evaluation process through which each user's suitability for buying or selling specific financial products, like stocks and ETFs, is assessed. This is done via a set of targeted questions and response options, collectively known as the Appropriateness Test. An example of such a question might be, "How much knowledge and experience do you have with investing in derivatives?" This test helps ensure that users understand the risks involved and are making informed decisions based on their financial expertise and investment background.
AssetIn the context of our services, assets include a variety of digital assets such as cryptocurrencies, stocks, precious metals, ETFs, and crypto indices, all of which are configurable per partner based on specific requirements.
ClientIn the OAuth 2.0 framework, a client refers to any application that makes requests to the server on behalf of the user. The client is authorised through OAuth 2.0 to access the user's protected resources hosted by a resource server. It is registered with the authorization server to obtain a unique client identifier (client_id) and a client_secret, which are used to establish secure communication and authenticate requests
DomainThe Domain is used internally for technical purposes to organise and categorise resources logically, improving the overall segregation of data per partner. Currently, a partner can have associated one domain.
Fee after costThe remaining fee after deducting Bitpanda trade fees. It can be either split with Partners or given entirely to them based on the partnership agreement.
KYCKnow Your Customer is the process by which we verify the identity of our end customers to prevent fraud and comply with anti-money laundering (AML) laws. This involves collecting personal information, assessing customer risk, and monitoring ongoing transactions.
OAuth 2.0An authorization framework which enables a third-party application to obtain limited access to an HTTP service, either on behalf of a resource owner by orchestrating an approval interaction between the resource owner and the HTTP service, or by allowing the third-party application to obtain access on its own behalf.
PartnerA Partner refers to any entity that engages with the Bitpanda platform to utilise its offerings. This term encompasses a wide range of entities such as traditional banks, growing fintechs, neobanks, and online platforms. Partners agreed to leverage the Bitpanda platform's services to enhance their own products or services and extend additional value to their end customers.
SettlementIs a process between Partner and Bitpanda allowing to request or send money between parties to reach the agreed balance on both corporate accounts.
SpreadIn the context of our services, spread refers to the total trade fee paid by the user.
T&CTerms and Conditions, often abbreviated as T&C, are a set of regulations and requirements that are agreed upon between a service provider and a user.
UserA User is an individual or organisation that directly benefits from the Bitpanda platform's services through a Partner. Users are the end customers of Partners who integrate with our platform to access its offerings.
WalletWallet is the digital representation of all transactions (trades + FIAT Settlement transfers) which have an impact on the settlement balance on Partners' side or on Bitpanda’s side (Partner corporate wallet).
XPCTThe ex-post cost transparency report is a yearly report to inform users about all the costs associated with their Bitpanda activity with regard to our A-Token/Bitpanda Stocks.
